Why Should I Give?

Created in God's Image

We give generously because we are created in God’s image. God is a generous and abundant God who provides abounding life.

[Jesus said,] “For God so loved the world that he gave. . . .”  John 3:16

We reflect God’s image best when we are living generously.

“Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift is from above. . . .” James 1:17

God is Generous

We give generously in grateful response for all that God has given to us. God invites our generosity by giving generously to us.

[Jesus said,] “Freely you have received; freely give.” Matthew 10:8

Living generously honors God.

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”  Hebrews 13:16

We give generously so that the world might be transformed. Lives and communities are transformed when we give. Our gifts put love into action and make God’s love real in the lives of others through the ministries of our church.

[Jesus said,] “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations. . . .”

Matthew 28:19

Transformation of the World

Our lives are transformed as we grow and live generously as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity. . . .” 2 Corinthians 9:11

We invite you to prayerfully reflect on what it means to be born in God’s image, consider how you will respond from a position of gratitude, and discern how God is calling you to give generously for the transformation of the world.

Therefore, we invite one another to grow in the Discipleship Journey of creating community,

transforming lives, and sharing the love of Christ through our financial giving.

Together we are committed to maturing in Christ by giving regularly, intentionally and generously

that the world might be transformed through the ministries of Clinton UMC.

Lord, where would you have me be in my giving?
